“These things I have spoken to you in parables, but the hour is coming when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will announce to you plainly concerning the Father.” - John 16:25

Easter 2025

Dear Neighbor,

When Jesus rose on the third day from the sepulcher, Mary Magdalene was weeping because she thought that someone had taken His body. Then something happened. She realized that the Lord Jesus was actually standing right there with her. She thought He was the gardener at first, but knew it was Him once He said her name (John 20).

When she heard Him say her name, she wasn't even looking at Him. But His voice was then suddenly familiar. She knew it was Jesus Christ!

The Lord Jesus Christ knows each one of our names too. And in Scripture He speaks to each one of us just as directly as He spoke to Mary. In the Book of Isaiah it says, "He calls to them all by name" (Is. 40:26). In the Gospel of John Jesus describes Himself as a Good Shepherd. He says that "the sheep hear His voice; and He calls His own sheep by name and leads them (John 10:3)."

The more we talk to the Lord in prayer and the more we read His Word, the more we will recognize Him speaking to us, like Mary Magdalene did—even if we think, at first, that He is not there.

If you would like to learn more about how the Lord Jesus Christ knows your name, you are welcome to join us for worship on Easter Sunday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. or any other Sunday of the year. Please also feel free to give me a call (610-756-6140).

Best Wishes!

Sincerely,

Rev. Brett D. Buick
