“All religion is of life; and the life of religion is to do good.” - Doctrine of Life §1
Kempton New Church

Day 28: March 23

Readings:

And they began to sorrow, and to say to Him one by one, Is it I?And another, Is it I? But He answering said to them, It is one of the twelve who dips with Me in the dish. The Son of Man goes indeed, even as it is written about Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for that man if he had not been born. And as they ate, Jesus, taking bread, having blessed it, broke it and gave to them and said, Take, eat; this is My body. And taking the cup, when He had given thanks, He gave it to them; and they all drank out of it. And He said to them, This is My blood of the New Covenant, which is poured out for many. Amen I say to you, I will drink no more of the produce of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives. (Mark 14:19-26)

That by “blood” is here meant the Divine truth, appears manifestly, because it is said that he who drinks has life, and abideth in the Lord, and the Lord in him. That the Divine truth and a life according to it effects this, and that the Holy Supper confirms it, can be known in the church. (Apocalypse Revealed 379:3)

Reflection:

When we take the Holy Supper we receive life from the Lord. A sign of having the Lord’s life inside us is that we take joy in doing the right thing because it is good and true. Have you experienced delight in doing the right things even when there was no reward in it for you?
